How are we already halfway through sixth grade??? The year seems to be flying by and our students are inching closer and closer to middle school. We are very proud of each student’s progress and look forward to the second half of the year. Your child should be taking home their first progress report (report card) of the year, today. Please review and look over next steps. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.
Please take the next three weeks to have a joyous holiday season and a happy new year! Remember to recharge, disconnect from devices, and reconnect with friends and family. We look forward to seeing you for the first day of the third quarter. School will resume on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025. We will miss you!!! <3
Important Dates
January 14th, 2025 – First Day of Third Quarter (Minimum Day)
January 20th, 2025 – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day (No School)
February 14th-17th, 2025 – Presidents’ Day Weekend
Head over to Jumbula to explore all the clubs available this quarter. If your student is currently enrolled in a club, there’s no need to re-register; they will automatically roll over into Quarter 3!
This quarter, we are introducing some fantastic new clubs:
Boys Basketball for 4th-6th graders: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Mini Makers for TK/K: Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Filipino Language Culture Session 2: Tuesdays from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Don’t miss out—any of the clubs on Jumbula are still accepting registrations! We can’t wait to see our Timberwolves engaging, learning, and having fun in these exciting activities!
By December 18th, students will be enrolled. If you have not received an email stating, “Congratulations, your child has been enrolled in this club,” it means your child is still on the waitlist. However, I can offer other clubs with available spots that you can sign up for. When you register your child, they are automatically placed on the waitlist—this is the default setting.
Nightly Homework – Please make sure your child is getting daily practice by ensuring they do their homework nightly, Monday through Friday. Students will utilize a daily planner to keep track of daily practice. Please initial nightly and sign at the end of the week. Every night, your child should be:
Reading for at least 30 minutes
Completing approximately 20 minutes of math practice on either Teams or iReady
Playing iReady for 15 minutes, Monday through Thursday
Accelerated Reader – Since this is week ten out of ten for this quarter, your student should be at 100% of their AR goal. We expect all students in sixth grade to read for one hour each day, Monday through Friday. Students read for 30 minutes in class daily and should also be reading for 30 minutes for homework.
